Mountain Ash Berries in Snow

mountain ash berries in snowThis young fruiting mountain ash was photographed against the snow covered crazed branches belonging to a big old northern catalpa tree. I like the contrasts of the tangled maze vs smooth and free flowing, old and young.
Birds usually take all the ash berries as soon as they ripen in the fall, but some winters clusters of orange berries remain until spring.
