Perhaps my fascination with these ice formations comes from the fact that they look like they are trying to grow into something recognizable, as can happen with clouds sometimes, so I become absorbed trying to figure out what that might be. This ice framed in driftwood on Lake Muskoka reminds me of a fossil of prehistoric jaws specially created by the lake to foreshadow biting winter on its way.
