The local beaver ponds in Muskoka are often packed with interesting wildlife, plants, colors and scenery. There can be so much to see crammed into a small space. By contrast those same ponds during winter are incredibly sparse. In this melting pond I like the reflections, tones, smooth swirling shapes and the stumps which appear to serve as anchors keeping everything from flowing away.
The photo looks like it might have been shot in black and white but a very subtle tint in the water reveals it had been shot in color. On many grey days during winter we have to ask ourselves “what is color anyway?”. This was photographed on one of those days.
