Blue Jay In The Snow

Muskoka winter blue jay in the snowAfter photographing the goldfinches in the snow the blue jays asked for their turn. This young one couldn’t sit still for the camera. He kept playing with snow with his beak and wouldn’t stop until satisfied that he’d performed some impressive tricks. Or maybe he just gave himself a brain-freeze as a result of eating his snow-cone too quickly. At any rate he stopped playing for a moment, posed proudly and waited for his close-up.

I’m pretty sure this is the same blue jay that I photographed taking a bath last week. Look how clean and well groomed he is. It’s gotta be the same one!
